Electrician

The careers researched to start with were electrical with Plunket Electrical, plumbing with South Canterbury Plumbing & Drainage and bricklaying with Karton Brick and Block.

After my three taster days, I selected electrical because that one was what I enjoyed the most and found the most interesting.

I was placed at Hardie Electrical.  At Hardie Electrical I usually fit in new lights, sockets, plugs etc or help them grabbing their tools or anything they need. They fix all parking meters around Timaru so quite often I am changing a battery or changing the paper at the parking meters, they also fix traffic lights but I haven't fixed one of those yet.

I am registered with  Skills Organisation. The units are mostly practical but there are some theory ones too.  Our assessments are first seen by a teacher then posted away for marking.

All of the assessments that I do count toward an electrical apprenticeship

Next year I am wanting to leave school and go to polytech so that I can work towards an electrical apprenticeship.
