NCEA external standards

Belinda Leckie —

The deadline for most external standards is two weeks later.

Due to COVID-19, the assessment date for most external standards has been postponed by two weeks. This includes NCEA examinations which now run from Monday, 22 November until Tuesday, 14 December. NCEA examinations will go ahead if our region is operating at Level 1 or Level 2 conditions of COVID-19.

One of the primary reasons for our school Assessment Week is to generate Progress grades for each external standard. If an examination does not go ahead due to COVID-19 or if a student is unable to sit an NCEA examination, NZQA asks for a Progress grade and this will be used to generate a final grade of Not Achieved, Achieved, Merit or Excellence.

As the final NCEA examinations are that much later this year, Roncalli College will hold its Assessment Week from 27 October until 2 November. Most students are only required to be on site at scheduled times during that time. Please be aware, however, that some students may be required to come in at different times and, in consultation with their teachers, students may choose to come onsite to work.
