Community Service & Outreach to the Elderly

During Term 2 the Religious Education department conduct retreats for all our Year 12 students. 

These retreats take place over one school day and are  hosted at various venues in the Timaru community. 

The focus for the day is community service and outreach to the elderly.

A highlight of one of  the visits was when the group met Rosetta who is 100 years, you will see the immense joy when the students spent time with her.  When asked for some advice for our young students, Rosetta replied "always be careful with what you say". Great advice!

The students enjoy their interaction with the residents of our various rest homes and the residents also enjoy the entertainment and company provided by the students. In the past the students have sung, played housie, bowls and cards, made paper decorations, run quizzes, read the newspaper to individuals or groups, and manicured the ladies nails.
