Roncalli Rockquest Revelry
We are celebrating the success of our students in both the Band and Solo/Duo categories at Smokefree Rockquest, now with the chance to progress to the National Finals later this year.
Carl Webber had found out on Wednesday, ahead of the Saturday night Timaru Regional Smokefree Rockquest contest at Mountainview High School that he was awarded 1st Place in the Solo/Duo category by online video submission for his song 'I Wish You Knew'.
Carl was invited to be the Guest Performer in the middle of the Band Contest at the event where he performed this and his second song 'My Antisocial Media'.
This year there was a bigger variety of musical styles and dynamic stage presence from all of the acts.
In the Band category Roncalli College (Nick Goodwin and Billy Cook) and Timaru Boys's High School (Jack McLennan and Ben Roberts) had a combined entry with Jacks Point who won1st Place following from the announcement that they had also won the ZM People's Choice Award.
A massive 'thank you' to all the people who voted. These band members had competed in previous years and had many evening and weekend band rehearsals, including hiring a rehearsal space in town to try and get the opportunity to take their music further.
If you like the sound of Jacks Point they regularly gig for private functions and events ( big and small) performing a mix of originals and covers of other bands and would be keen to play for your next event. Contact them via https://www.facebook.com/JacksPointOfficial/
Congratulations to Jacks Point on their selection in the top 20 bands in New Zealand!
