Rafael Darling

On 22 March Rafael Darling, a year 13 student, tragically passed away after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Rafael was a kind, gentle and caring young man who never complained about his own suffering and chose to put the needs of others above his own. He was a living example of the vales we teach at the College and a true inspiration and role model to us all. He will be missed by his family, friends, classmates, and teachers.

I would like to acknowledge the Darling family who handled this difficult tragedy with the utmost courage, dignity and respect. They truly honoured the short but full life of their son and brother.

I would also like to acknowledge the Roncalli students, staff and Fr Mark Walls who came together to support one other and the Darling family. I was truly humbled by the numerous acts of kindness and generosity on display over the course of the week.

We know that the Darling family will continue to have difficult days ahead, but we hope that the love and strength of our community will at least make the road a bit easier.
