Roncalli in Action

Rachael Burrowes —

This term will see the College celebrate our Catholic Character with a number of Feast Days and Social Justice activities, retreats and liturgies.

The Feast of the Assumption

On 12 August the College will celebrate together as a community the Feast of the Assumption. The Feast of the Assumption is Aotearoa’s National Patronal Feast Day and a day when the Church celebrates Mary being taken to Heaven, body and soul. It will be wonderful to celebrate this feast as a school community.

Roncalli Feast Day

We will also celebrate the Feast of St. John XXIII (Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli) on September 30th before we break for the term holidays. This is a day where the entire school community can gather together for Mass in the morning and commemorate who we are named after and the values for which we stand.

“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”

Year 12 Social Justice Workshop and Retreat 11 August (9am -3pm)

We are fortunate to have Father Mark (sm) and the Marist Team back again this term to host another day of thought-provoking workshops on Social Justice.

This day is for any Year 12 student who wants to deepen their knowledge about Social Justice to work together for a more just and peaceful society.

This was very successful in Term 2 so if you or your student have any questions about this day please feel free to contact either Ms. Burrowes r.burrowes@roncalli.school.nz or Mr Hinton c.hinton@roncalli.school.nz
