Congratulations to Gabriel van Royen

Chris Comeau —

Success in being selected as the first recipient of the JTC New Zealand Ltd Scholarship

Gabriel van Royen was thrilled to learn that he was the successful recipient of an all expense paid scholarship  to Tokyo in January 2020.  This will be an amazing experience for Gabriel.

JTC have advised us that there will be another opportunity for this scholarship next year for New Zealand students to travel to Japan. The College hosted Kazuo Kiyoto from JTC/Hoyu Gakuin this year and Gabriel was an excellent buddy to Kazuo. We have no doubt that Gabriel will be a great ambassador for us.

Roncalli College value their connection with JTC / Hoyu Gakuin and thank them for their visit yesterday. Further information on the scholarship is below:

JTC New Zealand Scholarship Information

The Purpose of the JTC NZ Scholarship program is to support a New Zealand Secondary School student who has an interest in Japanese language and culture and would like to experience a short term study opportunity at Hoyu Gakuin High School in Tokyo, Japan.

The recipient will be able to attend Hoyu Gakuin High School and stay with a homestay family, which is provided by Hoyu Gakuin High School, for around 15 days in January 2020.

JTC NZ will provide the recipient with: returning air tickets between Christchurch and Tokyo, a Suica Card topped up with 10,000yen which can be used for train and bus transportation almost everywhere while he/she is in Japan, and Uni-Care insurance which covers him/her for the whole travel period.

The recipient’s returning flight will be the same flight on which Hoyu Gakuin students are going to fly from Tokyo to Christchurch in January 2020.
