Appreciation for our Pathways Speakers

Lou Heenan —

Thank you to all the Pathways Speakers who have given up their time to speak at our Pathways Presentations

This week we have had the last of our Pathways Presentations. The presentations are compulsory for Year 11 and 12 students and take place on a Wednesday morning at 8:30am.

The speakers and their industries roughly cover the six vocational pathways of construction and infrastructure, manufacturing and technology, primary industries, creative industries, service industries and social and community industries. The speakers speak about their particular pathway and what led them to this industry/job. However, they also often speak about more generic topics like what employers look for in an employee, meeting a challenge head on and being kind towards others! Some students have also been fortunate in being offered work experience with the speakers as a result of talking to them after the presentation.

We would like to thank the following speakers for generously giving up their time this year to speak to and inspire our students: Cain Pullar (Teacher), Rupert Jackson (Lawyer), Dan Cummings (Rural Banker), Tibor (Electrical Engineer), Vanessa Cummings (Dispensing Optician), Martina Fellman (Optician), Jordan Hedges (Hairdresser), John Wilson (Thompsons Construction) and Beth Parks (Brewer). Thanks also to Courtney Young from Aoraki Development for helping to source the speakers.
