Commissioning Young Vinnies

Jo Bennett —

Roncalli College Young Vinnies were commissioned at our Term one community Mass at St Thomas'

Elderly, lonely, sick, or in a difficult circumstance? Roncalli Young Vinnies are here to help.

We are a committed group who are dedicated to carrying out the mission of Saint Vincent de Paul in our community - that is, to extend the helping hand of Christ to all in need.

We aspire to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.

One of our key activities is the Loaves and Fishes free community lunch. This takes place on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Parish Centre (at the rear of the basilica) at 12pm.

If you or anyone you know would benefit from wholesome food and wholesome company, you would be most welcome.

We also extend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. In the past we have visited the elderly, packed boxes, cooked meals, baked, dug gardens, cut lawns, stacked wood, looked after children, sent cards and gifts.  Email j.bennett@roncalli.school.nz if you are aware of anyone who needs some practical help.
