Aoraki Touch Championships

Bryce Caird —

On Sunday 13 March the Senior Mixed Roncalli Touch team competed in the Aoraki Touch Championships, held at Manchester Park, Waimate

The competition saw 4 senior mixed teams play off for a chance to take out the title, with the winner of the 3 round robin games to decide the title. The Roncalli team started the day with a 4-1 loss to Waimate High School, who showed some more game smarts and experience in a couple of crucial moments. The team then took on Mt Hutt in another close game, narrowly going down 4-2 after a much improved second half. In the third and final game of the day the team played Mackenzie College, with Roncalli putting on their best performance of the afternoon to take the win 6-3.

While the results didn't always go as planned the team showed great improvement throughout the day and represented the College with a high level of effort and respect towards opposition and officials. The team have been excellent role models for our college and with several younger players in the squad the future looks very bright for the team.

A big thanks to Mr Jordan Hooke for helping with coaching this season and for helping out with transport.
