Success at the Aoraki South Island Secondary School Triathlon and Duathlon champs

Cat Sutherland —

On Sunday 6 March, twelve Roncalli students participated in the Aoraki South Island Secondary School Triathlon and Duathlon champs

This was the first year that Roncalli College has entered students for quite some time so it was pleasing to have a large number of entries.

Carter West gained 1st place in the Intermediate boys duathlon with an outstanding performance. Rueben Wheeler also performed exceptionally well, gaining 1st place in the Under 14 boys duathlon.

Sam McNaught and Sean Newlands showed excellent potential amongst a large field of experienced triathletes. Sean gained 10th place and Sam a respectable 13th in the intermediate boys. Caleb Fairhall gained 14th place in the intermediate boys triathlon. Ollie Collins competed exceptionally well in the under 14 boys triathlon, finishing in 6th place. Gus Collins also had a strong race, finishing in 11th place.

Adora Pantel, Bethany Pantel and Pippa Nevin enjoyed their first team triathlon competition, gaining 3rd place in the intermediate girls. Connie Dellow and Keane Goodger gained a well deserved 4th place in the intermediate girls duathlon event.

All of our students should be very proud of their performances and represented our school proudly. Well done to you all.
