Cycling Success

We are happy to share an update of all of our Cycling achievements where our cyclists, especially Jaxson Whyte have been very busy. Well done to you all.

Aoraki Secondary School Cycling Championships

The Aoraki event was held at the Levels Raceway on Tuesday 15 June. Year 13 student Jaxson Whyte and year 11 student Samantha Clarke competed in the Cycling event.

Results

Jaxson Whyte: Over 16 Boys

  • Scratch Race (2nd place) 26:32.28
  • Time Trial (3rd place) 3:08.92

Samantha Clark: Over 16 Girls 

  • Scratch Race (4th place) 
  • Time Trial (4th place)


South Island Secondary Schools Road Cycling Champs 

The South Island event was held at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Christchurch on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July 2021.

Results

Jaxson Whyte: Under 20 Boys

  • Individual Time Trial (5th place) 4:24.03
  • Road Race (2nd place) 52:07.10

Charlie Quested: Under 15 Boys

  • Individual Time Trial (12 place) 5:50.10
  • Road Race (13th place) 27:40.61


Skoda National School Track Championships

On Monday 12 July following the South Island Secondary Schools Jaxson Whyte travelled to Cambridge to compete in the School Track Nationals.

Jaxson finished second overall in an omnium-style (accumulation of points over the three events) across a two-day race schedule.


National Track Series - Round 2 Cambridge

Following the National Track Champs Jaxson attended the first portion of the New Zealand Cycling National and Development Camp with the goal of preparing us for the New Zealand record and race simulation night. The camp was separated by the 2nd round of the National Track Series. 

Jaxson finished 4th overall throughout the three-day event, with the first round having taken place six weeks earlier where he finished 3rd.
