Flex Learning

Guy Sutherland —

Students undertake a range of options with an aim on working towards pathways and/or the capabilities shown to be needed for when students leave Roncalli into work or Tertiary study.

The Wednesday Flex Learning started for our Year 12 and 13 students. This will run for seven Weeks in Term 2 and again in Term 3.

Students undertake a range of options with an aim on working towards pathways and/or the capabilities shown to be needed for when students leave Roncalli into work or Tertiary study.

Some of these capabilities are: communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, the College CARES values, social justice, environmental awareness, and service to others.

Many students undertake planned Independent Learning Programmes off site and working towards a specific pathway, many are on their Gateway work experience placements, and many undertake courses offered here at the College.

We also had a number of students head up to University of Canterbury and Lincoln to learn about Tertiary study options.

Some of the options undertaken at Roncalli are: Makerspace, Welding Rocket Stoves, Personal Fitness Programmes, Rock Climbing, Barista, Food for Flatting, Squash, Golf, Personalised Study, and Automotive Basics.

Learning Advisory also started for our Senior students with the focus this term being: Ako (Culture of Learning). Students worked on reviewing goals set from Term 1 and revising them and/or setting new goals for this Term.
