A wonderful celebration of our Catholic community in Timaru

On Sunday 8 November Bishop Paul Martin blessed and officially opened the Roncalli Community Sports Complex and the Holy Family Parish Centre after the Mass to celebrate the re-opening of the earthquake-strengthened Sacred Heart Basilica.

It was awesome to have Bishop Paul officially open our Sports Complex and we would like to take this opportunity again to thank those of you who generously supported this project. Thank you to our Project fundraising committee, Kelly O'Driscoll, Andrew Jones, Catherine Kelly, Stacey Scott and Tracey Talbot. We would also like to thank Gary Shand, Jim Anderson, Father Chris, Father Do and the Parish Council for their support and collaboration.

Last week we installed the Major Sponsors Board in the Complex and the Magic Carpet Squares donors board.

During the Mass, 30 young people received the Sacrament of Confirmation, we congratulate each of the candidates for reaching this step in their faith journey. Your commitment, celebration and joy was wonderful to witness.

The Roncalli College community would like to congratulate Bernard Feely, Jim Anderson, Val Ponsonby and Teresa Scott who were presented with Papal Awards for their tremendous service to the South Canterbury Catholic community and the Holy Family Parish. Your service is inspirational to us all and very much appreciated.
