STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

AON MAADI CUP 2021 ~ Lake Karapiro

Mollie Phillips and Sahahna Anisy-Oudemans traveled to Lake Karapiro to compete at Maadi Cup 22 - 27 March. 

Girls U18 Novice Double Sculls: Heat 5 placed 3rd (8:09.87); Semi-final placed 3rd (8:13.19); B Final placed 1st (8:35.86).

Girls U16 Double Sculls: Heat 6 placed 4th (8:29.28); Semi-final placed 6th (8:06.42); C Final placed 8th (8:49.59).

Their best result was first in the B final with the fourth fastest time in the A. We would like to thank Antonio Francis-Rees for all the time he has given up and the commitment he has made to Roncalli Rowing. Congratulations on your results, we are looking forward to next season.


Te Waipounamu U18 Wahine Rugby Development Camp ~ Isla McManus

Te Waipounamu U18 Wahine Development Camp

Congratulations to Isla McManus who was selected in the Te Waipounamu U18 Wahine Rugby Development Camp, which ran in Timaru from Friday March 26th to Sunday March 28th. Maori female rugby players from across the South Island were selected to attend this, and the camp involved individual and group development for rugby skills, Maori culture and making connections between female Maori players. Organisers were very impressed wit the attitude and skill of all the participants.


UPCOMING EVENTS

SISS Athletics

Following a very successful Aoraki Athletics meet, it is very exciting to have 16 students represent Roncalli College to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools. This event will take place in Christchurch at Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 April. Thank you to Mrs Sutherland, Mrs Oudemans, Morgan Oudemans and Ms Leckie who are travelling and supporting the team for this event.

College Cross Country and Colour Fun Run/Walk

The College Cross Country and Colour Fun Run has been rescheduled to take place on Wednesday 5 May (Week 1, Term 1) at the Botanic Gardens. Miss Zandbergen will email all students  and those who would like to register to compete in the competitive cross country can click on the link provided to enter.


St Kevin's Sports Exchange ~ Wednesday 12 May

We are excited to announce that we have secured a Sports Exchange with St Kevin's College in Oamaru on Wednesday 12 May (Week 2, Term 2). This will involved approximately 20 sports teams playing Rugby, Football, Netball, Basketball, Hockey, Debating, Scripture Reading and possible Trap Shooting.

Once we have confirmed the teams involved, we will identify the students involved and begin our planning and share further information with you.
