Experience Queenstown Resort College

Courtney Molloy —

Hear about Josie's experience at QRC!

For 3 days in the term 2 holidays I went down to Queenstown to get a taste of life at Queenstown Resort College to see if it is a possible option for next year.

Queenstown Resort college is a Polytech that offers two different courses, one being a 21 month hospitality management course and the other is a 21 month Tourism management course.

I decided to do the three day taster down in Queenstown to see if it is an option for me next year. I had a look into the tourism course to see if that is an option for me, these tasters gave me a great look into how it would be if I were to take the course and what exactly it could lead into once you come out of the course.

Overall it was a great experience and really helped me decide what my next steps will be. Over the three days we did various different activities that involved visiting different tourism and hospitality businesses such as the K-Jet, the Luge/skyline, Fear Factory and we also visited the Millbrook Resort.

By visiting all these businesses we were able to see how they work and what sort of knowledge and experience is needed. This experience was not only a fun way to see Queenstown but it also gave us a chance to look around the campus at the accommodation as well as the classrooms. We had a chance to talk to current students and teachers to see what their thoughts are on the course and why the believe it is a good way of learning instead of going straight to working.
