The tasks I undertake are waking the residents up in the morning, helping with washing and other personal cares, meals and drinks, activities and keeping them company.

I was nervous about joining Gateway this year as it was way out of my comfort zone. I was also excited that I would be gaining experience with caregiving/nursing. The careers I researched and taster days trialed were caregiving, SPCA and Early childhood/kindergarten. The Industry I selected was caregiving. My Work Placement ended up beingat Highfield Lifecare, I go there every Tuesday doing the 6:45am to 2:30pm shift.  I have gained casual employment at the rest home and plan to study Enrolled Nursing next year either in Timaru or Christchurch
