Tertiary Trips

Lou Heenan —

Year 12 and 13 students go on trips to Dunedin and Christchurch

On 7 May,  Year 12 and 13 students attended the Otago University and Polytechnic Open Day. The purpose of this trip is for students to attend lectures, visit Halls of Residences and to generally see if they like what these two institutions have to offer. This Open Day is attended by many other schools and there are roughly 10,000 extra students on these two campuses during this day.

On 21 May another group of Year 12 and 13 students attended the Canterbury Tertiary trip where they all get to visit the University of Canterbury in the morning and then they choose to either visit ARA Institute or Lincoln university in the afternoon.  As we are the only school visiting the students get a tour of the campus, a visit to the departments of the courses they might be interested in and then a look at the halls of residence. During the visits to Canterbury and Lincoln Universities it was also a good opportunity to meet up with past pupils who acted as guides and to also hear what they are studying and how they like university life.
