Gratitude and Impact: Enhancing Support through Chemo Care Packages

Cathy Shearer —

We extend our sincere gratitude to the generous individuals and organisations who have contributed to our chemo care packages. Through this initiative, we aim to provide comfort and support to those undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Chemotherapy is an important part of cancer treatment that uses powerful drugs to kill cancer cells. However, this treatment can also have significant side effects, both physically and emotionally. Chemo care packages are specially care bags filled with items and resources to help support individuals going through chemotherapy.

Why are the chemo care packages important?

Chemotherapy can be a challenging and overwhelming experience. These care packages provide practical and thoughtful items that can make a real difference in a patient's comfort and well-being.

What can you find in a chemo care package?

Each care package is carefully curated to offer items that address the unique needs of chemo patients. Here are some common items that you may find:

  • Beanies and gloves to provide comfort during treatment sessions
  • Books, puzzles, or other forms of entertainment to help pass the time
  • Moisturizing lotions or lip balms to combat dry skin or lips
  • A journal or notebook and pen for jotting down thoughts and feelings
  • Travel mug, chanui tea, and snacks to boost energy levels
  • A handmade get well card

How can these care packages make a difference?

Chemo care packages serve as a reminder to patients that they are not alone in their journey. These thoughtful donations can uplift spirits, provide much-needed comfort, and help alleviate some of the physical and emotional side effects of chemotherapy.

How can you contribute?

Your continued support is greatly appreciated. If you would like to contribute to our chemo care packages, consider donating items or funds to help us create more care packages for those in need, please email Sally Betts s.betts@roncalli.school.nz

Together, we can make a difference.
