Congratulations to Gateway students awarded the Red Shirts in Schools - Customer Service Award

Marian Mehrtens —

This year for the first time our students had the opportunity to take part in The Warehouse Red Shirts in Schools Programme.   3 of our Gateway students took part in the initial trial in the Timaru store, attending work experience for 1 day every week for 10 weeks.   Students were  supported all the way through the programme by a Service IQ Training Advisor who worked with the store management to make sure they gained an all-round understanding of the world of retail.

Students gained valuable work experience and were awarded a Service IQ Customer Service Award as well as credits that can be used towards the nationally recognised qualification National Certificate in Retail (Level 2).  They learnt important skills including effective communication; personal presentation; product knowledge and teamwork.

Congratulations to Emma Gould, Cheyan Wilson and Zara Poi-Walker who completed the programme and well done for making it such a successful trial ensuring that it continues for future Gateway students in Timaru.
