All of New Zealand 's greatest endurance runners emerged from a cross country background
The Aoraki Secondary Schools Cross Country championships were held on 27 May. It was a glorious day at Ashbury Park and the team performed very well and fun was had by all. Thanks also to our team of helpers.
The results are as follows:
Junior Girls: Emily Thompson 5th
Intermediate boys: John Liu 6th, Archie Jones 11th, Matthew Shaw 12th
Intermediate Girls: Keane Goodger 12th, Bethany Pantel 14th, Kristen Olivier 21st, Adora Pantel 22nd
Our cross country team were to attend the Canterbury Secondary School Cross Country Champs on Thursday, 3 June at Ascot Golf course, Christchurch - unfortunately this has been cancelled due to the recent weather event.
Over 400 runners from 44 schools were to attend this event, the track consisted of a beautiful 3km route that included a short section of technical terrain to negotiate (or run around).
It is disappointing that the students will miss this opportunity but hopefully our team will continue to develop their love of this endurance sport.
