Growing Hearts - Engaging Minds

Chris Comeau —

Because of COVID-19 we have had to postpone our Open Day. If you or someone you know would like to have a tour of the College with your year 8 student, please contact the College office to arrange a time (phone 03 688 6003).

It is great to finally be back at school after lockdown. We are pleased to be back-to business now as the article in this publication highlights.

The COVID-19 crisis has been uncharted waters for all of us; governments, businesses, schools, and individuals. While we had to hit 'pause' on most of our business-as-usual activities, our teachers and students quickly adapted to new and innovative ways of teaching and learning. We also had to find new ways to support each other while being apart. It was a challenging but valuable educational experiment and many of the lessons learnt will not doubt inform the future.

Now, the post-COVID environment offers new and exciting possibilities for schools. Through the use of technology, there is great opportunity to develop new forms of flexible and personalised learning for students that will help to develop life skills that employers will be looking for in the future such as creativity, independence, communication and collaboration.

Sadly the pandemic has also exposed the equality in our society. It has been easier for some to cope with this crisis than others. This will test our values as a society. More than ever, we need to keep our community connections strong and show through our actions that love and compassion are stronger than fear.
