Important Reminder

Mark Pribis —

We appreciate all those students who are actively engaging in remote learning and making the most of this opportunity

Dear Students and Parents/Caregivers

These are unusual and unprecedented times as we continue to adjust to the nuances and challenges of remote teaching/learning. We want to remind you that term 2 has now officially started and the following guidelines apply to all students:

  • Communication between students and teachers is key to successful remote teaching/learning. Therefore, if a student is experiencing difficulty, due to technology, wellbeing, or a situation at home, they need to contact their teacher/s or alternatively Ms. Walsh, the Director of Well-being. It is important to keep the College informed so that teachers are able to deliver the appropriate level of work and allow the necessary time to complete tasks.

  • All students are expected to attend Zoom meetings unless they have technology issues, illness or an excused absence. If a student is unable to attend a class, please contact the teacher to explain the circumstances.

  • It's important to note that the Ministry of Education (The Education Act 1989) prohibits secondary students from undertaking paid employment during school hours. This also applies during all COVID levels. Working is not a justified reason for absence.

  • Internal assessments will continue during Levels 3 and 4 and due dates are still required to be met in accordance with NZQA directives. While evidence of learning may change during Level 3 and Level 4, students will still be required to show learning per the instructions given by the teacher. If students have difficulties for any reason they should communicate with their teacher.

We understand that students and teachers are adjusting to a new, on-line school environment so we want to make sure that everyone is clear about requirements and expectations to ensure that learning is manageable, students feel supported and assessments are fair and valid.

We appreciate all those students who are actively engaging in remote learning and making the most of this opportunity.
