Swim Canterbury West Coast Short Course Champs, Jellie Park, Christchurch 7-9 August 2020

Three Roncalli students recently competed at the SCWC Short Course Champs. This was the first big competition since lockdown and attracted over 300 swimmers.

Luka Foy swam well achieving PBs in 5 out of his 6 events and placed top 5 in the open men’s category. He received 2 bronze medals in 100m breast and 100m fly. With his new times, he is currently ranked number 1 in NZ for 17 year old men in 100m fly and number 3 in NZ for 100m breast (based on short course results for 2020). He has also now qualified for the Canterbury Gold Squad which was one of his goals for this year.

Toby Taylor also had some great swims with 2PBs out of his 4 events and placed top 10 in 100m and 200m breast.

Chloe Venmore swam well achieving 4 PBs out of her 6 events and placed top 10 in 3 of the events. She received a bronze medal in the 200 fly and made finals for the 100m breast.

NZ Secondary School Champs, Hamilton

Matt Gray and Luka Foy were due to travel to Hamilton from 20-23 August to compete in the National Secondary School Champs. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, the competition has been postponed (and possibly cancelled).
