Congratulations to year 9 student Anabel Scott on her outstanding achievements with her Swimming.

South Island Secondary School Swimming Championships

This event was hosted in Timaru on the 19 and 20 June 2021. Anabel Scott competed in five events and placed in all of her events gaining three gold and two silver medals. Congratulations Anabel on your outstanding achievements.

  • Gold Medal - 50m Backstroke (32.47)
  • Gold Medal - 100m Backstroke (1:11.18)
  • Gold Medal - 100m Butterfly (1:16.78)
  • Silver Medal - 100m Individual Medley (1:14.33)
  • Silver Medal - 50m Freestyle (30.13)


New Zealand Secondary School Swimming Championships

This event was held at the Sir Owen G Glenn National Aquatic Centre in Auckland from 22 - 25 July 2021.

Anabel Qualified for eight events in total, she gained six PB's (personal bests) over the week.

Her best results competing in the Girls Under 14 years:

  • 10th place - 50m Backstroke (PB 32.33)
  • 10th place - 100m Backstroke (PB 1:09.83)
  • 11th place - 200m Backstroke (PB 2:33.32)


I'm really please with how I swam in both of these events over the last few months. My training paid off leading up to these events and I look forward to doing better at them next year.

It was cool how the NZSS was streamed live on Sky Sport, it was good to look at how I was swimming and where I can make improvements ~ Anabel Scott
