William Pike- an inspirational leader

Andrew Jones —

William Pike is an adventurer and motivational speaker who came to Timaru and spent some time with the young leaders of South Canterbury.

Made possible by the Timaru Rotary, young student leaders from around South Canterbury were invited to the Mountainview Auditorium on Monday night to hear some words of wisdom that might inspire them on their leadership journey.

William Pike’s tenacious passion for life has helped him to overcome serious challenges, tackle new opportunities and enrich his skills as a leader.

Losing a leg after being trapped in a volcanic eruption on Mt Ruapehu has not changed William’s outlook on life, nor has it stopped him from doing the things that he loves. He climbs mountains, goes bushwalking, scuba diving, hunting and kayaking.

"William inspired us all to never stop exploring and pushing our boundaries through his story of recovery and striving for greatness,"  commented Catlin Bradley, Head Girl. "The quote from William, “All passion, no limits” really resonated with me and has motivated me to keep pursuing my goals through all adversity."

He leads a nationwide youth development programme and is the author of the book, Every Day's A Good Day.
