Term one New Zealand Speech Board results
On March 29, 12 international students sat Speech New Zealand examinations. This involves preparing a three or four minute presentation, a short drama showing communication skills, delivering a social speech and reading a poem or prose out loud. Just one of these would make anyone nervous, and our students have to do four! In addition, they are doing all this in English, which is not their first language.
Our students worked very hard and the results are: Bridging: Go Furusawa, Yutaro Sato, Hinane Iha, Ayano Shiroshima, Manami Saito, Mizuki Igarashi, Momoka Kanai with Distinction; Ayaka Nukasaka, Nene Iwanami, Kazuo Kyoto with Merit. Senior: Midori Hayashi with Distinction, Jette Guenther with Merit. Congratulations to all these students. A very big thank you to staff and volunteers involved in preparing students for these exams, especially Sheila Thomas and Kevin Walker.
