Changes Happening Next Term

Mark Pribis —

Wishing everyone a safe and happy mid year break

This term has flown by and we have had a busy end to Term two.  Last week we had our first Mass in the Basilica in quite some time, thank you to Father Chris for celebrating this Mass for us.  Our Year 12 students had a social justice seminar and the Year 13 students had a Mid-Year retreat to reconnect.  This week the Year 10's had their first taste of NCEA as Roncalli College piloted new numeracy and literacy online assessments.  We finish the term with House Singing today.

With the end of the term the College will farewell some staff and welcome others.

We will welcome back Chris Comeau from Sabbatical.  I would like to thank the staff, students and community who supported me for the term while he was away.

As mentioned previously Belinda Leckie has taken a position at NZQA in Wellington.  We thank her for her service as the Assistant Principal for the last 4 years and wish her well in her new position.  Jayne Adams will become the Acting Assistant Principal for the remainder of the year.

Derek Vogel will work part time for the remainder of the year as he transitions to Grantlea Down School.  Mr Vogel has been an integral part of the Science Department since 2011.  His enthusiastic love of science will be missed by students and staff.

Simon Wallace who has been with us this year will return home to England.  He has been filling the Curriculum Leader role in the Social Sciences Department.  Mr Wallace has been a great addition to the Roncalli Family and we thank him for his help this year.

We welcome Christine Cheesman.  Ms Cheesman will be teaching English for the remainder of the year.  Ms Cheesman is part of our Alumni, welcome back to Roncalli.

Karensa Clark will join us as a part time Science teacher.  Ms Clark comes to us from Mackenzie College.  Both Ms Cheesman and Ms Clark come with a wealth of experience.

It has been a good term and we wish everyone safe and happy holidays.
