Former Roncallian Now the Face of Farmers

Andrew Jones —

Lara Tilley (2013-16) has taken her creativity to the world to be named the Farmer's Beauty Ambassador for 2018.

A vibrant and effervescent student, Lara was always one to take risks. An eloquent public speaker, her Bishop Lyons speech questioned why restrictions were placed around student course choices given her passion for art, photography and design. Indeed she challenged the way in which the modern education system addresses students needs.

"I have always had a passion for makeup and art which was always obvious in school. I started doing freelance makeup on other people in Year 11 for special occasions such as school formals, which grew my client list more and more every year."

Lara realised from her experiences at Roncalli that if if she really wanted to be successful , it was up to her to make it happen. "Since leaving school I have furthered my passion and drive for makeup by joining the beauty industry and posting my makeup looks to social media from which I have gained a lot of recognition, including big makeup brands in New Zealand." This self confidence and willingness to take risks has seen her show initiative and drive to turn her passion into a potential career.

"I am now the Farmers Beauty Ambassador of 2018 which is a big achievement for me. The subjects I took at Roncalli helped me a lot to get where I am today. I still utilise my painting and photography skills on an every day basis."

The College congratulates Lara as an example of a Roncallian who is willing to take responsible risks and pursue her passion.
