A Special Character update for term 1 2022

World Day of Prayer for Ukraine

Last Friday the College gathered in prayer to pray for peace around the world, in particular in the Ukraine. Led by our Special Character Leaders the staff and students reflected on the importance of praying for peace in our communities and world.

Pope Francis encouraged all Catholics of the world to dedicate Friday 25 March to praying for peace in the Ukraine and dedicating our prayers to Mary, the Mother of Jesus and we did so by praying the Hail Mary together. Our students also painted the flag of the Ukraine to be placed in each of our Parish Churches on Friday 25 March, where all Churches were open for prayer.

Worship Wednesdays

For the past two Wednesdays students and staff have gathered in the Chapel at lunch for ten minutes to pray for any intentions placed in the College special intention box. The Special Character Leaders have led a short reflective liturgy each week with an appropriate theme. We thank them for this wonderful initiative to gather and think of others and look forward to the next one. All students and staff are encouraged to come along for ten minutes of prayer for other students or your own intention.

Lent

As we continue through our season of Lent towards Holy Week, students were reminded of the three key aspects of Lent

  • Almsgiving

  • Prayer

  • Fasting

Students regathered their goals and aims on their Lenten journey in Learning Advisory and were reminded of Pope Francis’ reminding us of his Lenten message to sow seeds of goodness this year. We now build towards Holy Week and hope that Jesus’ resurrection brings us all.
