Roncalli Summer Swimming Results

The Roncalli swimmers have been busy over December and January attending some key swim meets to improve their times for the upcoming National events.

The penultimate meet is the NZ National Age Group Champs (NAGs) in Wellington in April – Matthew Gray (Swim Timaru), Luka Foy (Temuka Swimming Club) and Natasha Pannett (Swim Timaru) have all qualified to swim at this meet. Toby Taylor (Swim Timaru) will be focused on the NZ Division II Champs in Dunedin in March hoping to lift his times to qualify for NAGs also.

The results of the pre-Christmas meets are as follows:

Matthew swam a Hamilton Open Christmas meet as part of the Canterbury Silver Squad. With tough competition racing against swimmers of all ages, Matt got bronze in 200 fly and top 10 placings in 400 IM, 400 Free and 200 IM.

Natasha travelled to Invercargill as part of the Canterbury Bronze Squad and swam in the Southland Champs. She got silver in 200 Free and 800 Free and Bronze in the 400 Free.

Luka also swam at the Southland Champs and he took out Gold in the 200 Back; Silver in the 50 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Free and 200 IM; and bronze in the 200 Free.

In January, Natasha and Toby swam at the Canterbury/West Coast Long Course Champs in Dunedin. Natasha achieved bronze in the 800 Free and was place top 10 for all her other events. Toby receive bronze in the 50 Breast, 200 Breast and 200 Fly and top 10 placing for 200 IM and 100 Breast.

Luka travelled north to Wellington to race the Swim Wellington Long Course Champs. He receive bronze in the 100 Back and top 10 placing in all of his other events; 50 Back, 200 Free, 200 IM, 50 Breast and 50 Free.
