Roncalli College have five teams representing the College in their chosen sports next week. Unfortunately due to Covid original tournaments were unable to go ahead. But it is so great to see alternative opportunities created so they can still compete.

Swim Canterbury West Coast Short Course Champs, Jellie Park, Christchurch 7-9 August 2020

Before starting Gateway this year I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to be. After researching careers and talking to other people I decided that I wanted to do something trade-related and hands-on.

Before starting Gateway this year, I thought I definitely knew what I wanted to do, but through trialing the taster days I discovered that I wanted to go into a career other than the one I originally planned on having.

I am doing my work experience at JMac Joinery every Thursday, I work with both their kitchen, bathroom unit area and their hardwood area where they make chairs and tables.

The Careerforce unit standards I do in Gateway count towards a New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing and will help me with getting a job in the future

At work experience I go with a qualified tradesman for the day, I could be helping to measure and wire up lights or doing something completely different; it's always a surprise .

Most of the time I am at Glass Specialists I will go out with one of the workers and go to a job site to install or replace glass that needs to be fixed

Gateway is fun if you know what you want to do with your future plans.
