Leadership message from Dora, Lindy, Kim

Lindy Kelvin —

Dear Rose Park Primary School Families

As we embark on Term 2, we are excited to continue our journey of learning and growth. Our focus remains on helping each student achieve their learning goals, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy, as well as other key learning areas and extra-curricular activities.

We are committed to developing effective learners by promoting student agency and ensuring equity and excellence. We aim to support the well-being of the whole child while nurturing their IBPYP learner profile and dispositions such as curiosity, questioning, persistence, and the celebration of progress.

We hope that you gained more insight into your child/ren’s learning from the Parent Teacher Conversations last term and let’s keep building a strong partnership between home and school for ongoing student success. If you didn’t manage to meet with your child/ren’s teacher please make an appointment at any time throughout the year to monitor and support their learning.

We encourage you to work closely with your child's teachers to support their learning journey.

Here are a few ways you can get involved:

Keep up-to-date with classroom activities and progress through regular communication with teachers.

Encourage Reading and Practice: Support your child by encouraging daily reading and practising numeracy skills at home.

Set Goals Together: Discuss and set achievable learning goals with your child, and celebrate their efforts, progress and achievements.

Our teachers are here to support you and your child. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need additional resources.

Together, we can create a positive and enriching learning environment for all students.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.

Supervision and Safety of Students

We would like to remind you of the importance of not dropping off students at school before 8.30am in the mornings and encourage you to use the OSHC service to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at Rose Park Primary School.

Please note that there is no yard duty teacher available before 8:30 am or after 3:30 pm. It is the responsibility of parents and carers to ensure the safety and supervision of their children outside of school hours. For our children’s health and wellbeing, we do not share food at school.

New turf has been installed and we discourage riding of bikes and scooters on these surfaces and no animals – pets allowed on site as we are constantly clearing animal litter from the oval and playground areas.

For families using the Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) service, please be assured that your children are our priority during these periods. We encourage all other families to promptly head home after school and to respect the activities of outside agencies and sports groups who hire our premises.

If you notice any individuals or situations that may pose a risk to our school community, please notify the Front Office and security immediately.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in keeping our school environment safe and respectful for everyone.

Education Management System

We are pleased to inform you that our school transitioned from the Education Department School Administration System (EDSAS) to the new Education Management System (EMS) on April 4, 2025. This change is part of The Department for Education’s ongoing efforts to enhance our administrative capabilities and improve the overall experience for our students, staff, and families.

Our staff are engaged in ongoing training and learning new processes for attendance, behaviour records, student reports, financial management and communication etc.

Your understanding and patience are appreciated during this period of change.

We are excited about the opportunities that EMS brings to our school community. Thank you for your continued support and trust in Rose Park Primary School.

We are excited to announce that we have 2 new mid-year reception classes joining our school learning community in Term 3.

School Uniform and Hats

It’s time to review our Uniform and Dress Code Policy and we seek student, staff and parent input. It is important that we wear labelled uniform and work attire with pride to promote a sense of belonging. Please wear appropriate, functional and comfortable clothing for school activities.

We are noticing lots of colourful socks, jackets and interesting hair accessories that are not consistent with our Uniform expectations. Our Casual Days are opportunities for our students to dress creatively.

Sun Protection Measures: Hats are not required for outside play during Term 2 and until 1 September, Term 3.  On days with a forecast Max UV Index of 3 or higher, students and staff are encouraged to wear hats, apply sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and seek shade during peak UV hours (10 am to 4pm) when the sun’s rays are strongest.

Please refer to Uniform and Dress Code Policy and Extreme Weather and Sun Protection Policy
