It has become clear during the COVID-19 pandemic that looking after our health – particularly our mental health – is more important than ever. With social distancing rules in place, many of our supporters across Australia who would normally raise thousands of dollars towards mental health research, have been forced to postpone and cancel their fundraising events.

Every year, small and medium-sized disasters occur in our District, examples such as floods, droughts, cyclones and fire events are all too familiar to us. Response is often varied and uncoordinated and Rotary often needs to seek money from communities and clubs.

This month, Rotary's leaders finalized the policy that will make an array of environmental projects eligible for Global Grants for the first time. Public policy is changing too.

This review speeds up the grant approval process at The Rotary Foundation and gets help to those in need that much faster.

A world of new experiences, travel and self-discovery, for this is the year I partook in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, the year that I lived in Finland.

Rotary Adventures in Citizenship (RAIC) has been and continues to be impacted by COVID 19 Restrictions in 2020 and 2021.

Literacy Chair, Gail Sellers is asking each Rotary Club to consider a small Literacy Project for their community.

The NADC provided grants to Rotary and other non-profit organisations to run COVID-safe community events across the nation to encourage community celebration after a very tough 2021. For Rotary, this was a golden opportunity to promote our support for communities and of course, R100. Our sincere thanks to the NADC.

As a Rotary brand specialist, I see Rotary signs everywhere. I guess you could say it’s an occupational hazard. Even my children spot Rotary signs wherever we go. So when I attended a local Rotary event in my hometown last year, I couldn’t help but notice how Rotary’s logo was being used.
