The rarest of the rare, a Rowi kiwi chick born at the West Coast Wildlife Centre attracted the attention of former District Governor Gary Hopkinson during a brief visit recently.

Gary says it was an amazing experience but one he couldn’t easily share. 

“There was no one there,” he says “all the tourist traffic has dried up”. Gary says anyone planning a getaway experience should head to the glaciers to get a glimpse of the Rowi kiwi.
