Construction of the new Hornby Centre, Indoor Pools and Library facility, has taken a significant step toward becoming a reality with piling construction starting on site recently. Hornby Rotary together with the local Greater Hornby Residents Association, and some key CCC staff, are working to have a Hydrotherapy pool included in The Hornby Centre.

RYLA 2022 gets underway Sunday 16 January at College House, University of Canterbury. This week-long leadership course is one of the District's flagship youth leadership programmes aimed at 18 to 25 year olds.

Having previously received an award in the Canterbury Westpac Champion Business Awards, FoodBank Canterbury (FBC) were further recognised by winning two titles this year. The rarest of the rare, a Rowi kiwi chick born at the West Coast Wildlife Centre attracted the attention of former District Governor Gary Hopkinson during a brief visit recently.

We were thrilled to be able to continue with the staging of our very popular Junior Speech Competition, even though schools had been locked down for a few weeks during their busy year. The change of timing had affected some schools but we still managed to attract 14 schools entering a total of 110 students. The competition involves students in Year 4 to Year 8.

The Cashmere Rotary Club has raised over $1100 for the four members of the Tongan Olympic team stranded in Christchurch.
