Friendship Exchange is an international exchange program for Rotary members and friends that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs
In mid-August, a team of 8 people from the District travelled to Sweden on a reciprocal visit (a Swedish group having visited New Zealand earlier in the year).
The team was hosted by Rotarians in Karlskrona/Ronneby, Älmhult, Ljungby and Halmstad and in each town the locals had gone out of their way to make this a memorable visit.
From a Naval Museum, Health Resort, Botanical garden to IKEA store and museum. A Moose park, sunset dining on the shore of beautiful Lake Möckeln, a visit to the Electrolux factory and an Open-air concert and fireworks display. And an introduction to the very unique Swedish tradition of "Fika" (making time for fika is so sacred to Swedes that it’s built into many employee contracts)!
Plus of course local Rotary meeting visits and lots of informal Rotary "fellowship" - all of which combined to make this a very special trip.
