Positively Invercargill: The house that Rotary built...

Dave McKissock, Assistant Governor —

The proceeds from the sale are going to support homeless people in Invercargill

The six Invercargill Rotary Clubs have been working all year on a massive undertaking - building a new house!!!

After a year of working bees most weekends (and sometimes on weekdays too!) the magnificent house is now reaching completion. To date 1027 voluntary hours have been put into this project which shows the huge commitment of our members. This project has created a lot of interest in the community as many members of the community have either visited the site to view the progress or they have offered to volunteer their respective services. Over 60 business’s in the region have either sponsored this project or have supplied materials and their expertise without cost or with a largely reduced labour rate. Public awareness of Rotary has also grown immensely through the year, with most clubs showing an increase in membership.

At this stage the interior is now being painted ready for fitting out and the exterior is now being prepared for landscaping. The kitchen and curtains will be fitted next month, and the house is expected to be completed by the end on November, ready for marketing and the big Auction!

The proceeds from the sale are going to support homeless people in Invercargill, a very worthy cause.

If you are interested in moving to Invercargill sometime in the near future....make sure you attend the auction!
