Rangiora Rotary Book Sale

Warren Inkster, Rangiora Rotary —

The 36th annual Rangiora Rotary Book Fair will this year be held on Friday November 26 and Saturday November 27 at the Rangiora A & P Showgrounds Pavilion (Tin Shed) because of COVID-19

Announcing the deferral today, organiser Bruce Walker says the annual book fair attracts large crowds and the delay will ensure everyone can be looked after in the true Rotary spirit of caring for the Rangiora community.

“The book fair is a major undertaking and is eagerly anticipated - we hope everyone will support our book fair on the new date,” he says

“There has already been a generous supply of books and the collection bins located at New World and the Z Service Station will go out from Monday 4 October 2021.”

Bruce says the community support for the Rotary book sale has been amazing with offers of book donations coming in from all over North Canterbury.

The book fair was originally held in the Conway Book Shop by Harold and Mary Conway. In recent years it has been successfully staged at the Rangiora Borough School Hall.

“The school has provided great support but with the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 the change of date conflicts with the school activities.

“This has meant a change of venue to the Tin Shed at the showgrounds – it is the ideal alternative with plenty of space for book lovers to browse at their leisure,” says Bruce.

Funds raised from the book sale go back into the Rangiora Community supporting a wide range of activities.
