Rotary Australia and the National Australia Day Council (NADC) have been working together to deliver COVID-safe community events across the country on Australia day 2021.

Robert Gibb —

NADC have made available grants of up to $20,000 for non-profit community groups to hold COVID-safe community events celebrating the Story of Australia on 26 January 2021. For Rotary Australia this is a fantastic opportunity to promote the work of our organisation in its centenary year in this country.

Led by the Camberwell Club in Victoria, a national campaign to promote 100 years of volunteer service by Rotary Clubs in Australia has been organised to align with Australia Day celebrations. There will be a national event and broadcast, but also "cluster" events run by groups of clubs across the country.

In our District 9570, three groups of clubs: Group 1 - Mackay Region, Group 4 - Maryborough/Hervey Bay Region, and Group 7 - Gladstone Region, have been successful in obtaining grants from the NADC to hold local events on Australia Day. This is a wonderful result given there were only days to apply for the grant before the cut-off.

Events are currently under development, but for the latest information, and how your club can be involved, contact your Assistant Governor/Area Governor for Group 1, Group 4 and Group 7.
