Introducing Larry (Lawrence) Slattery – D9560 Foundation Chair.


Larry was born in Wisconsin USA and raised on a dairy farm there. Served in the US Army for 3 years as a Radar Technician.

He was employed by large mining equipment suppliers in various service, sales, and management roles over 42 years, and is now retired. He left the USA in 1974, and after working in Canada, Europe, and Africa, arrived in Australia in 1980 for a two-year assignment, then decided to stay.

Larry joined the RC of Cloncurry in 2000. After transferring to Mackay, he then joined the RC of Mackay North in 2004. Starting the RC of Mackay Northern Beaches, Larry was the club mentor and is now an honorary member.

He served as District Scholarships Chair, YEP Chair, District Secretary, District Protection Officer, District Grants Chair and on 3 district conference committees. Larry has attended Rotary World Conventions in Sydney, Seoul and Atlanta, and attended Rotary Club meetings in USA, Taiwan, UK, Poland etc.

Larry is married to Toni, who is also the IPP RC Mackay Northern Beaches.

Larry's interests include spending time with 2 teenage grandsons, reading, and perhaps travelling again someday.

His goals as Foundation Chair: Enabling successful projects to happen and promoting The Rotary Foundation programs.
