DOES YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILE MEET ROTARY’S BRANDING GUIDELINES?

PDG Merewyn Wright —

Tips for making the most of your social media sites.

As District Social Media coordinator, I am keen to support clubs to make the most of their social media sites, with some regular tips in the District Newsletter.

This month, I thought I would start with the appearance of your page: in most cases, clubs’ main social media presence is via a Facebook page. So, this month I am asking clubs to have a look at the profile picture on their club’s Facebook page.

Does it meet Rotary’s branding guidelines?

The samples of profile pictures in the above graphic are all taken from Facebook pages of clubs in our District.

The samples in the top row do not meet Rotary International Branding guidelines:

· Samples 1 and 2 are versions of the “old” Rotary logo that was phased out approximately 8 years ago.

· Samples 3 and 4 are Rotary theme logos from 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively. They are therefore out of date. Theme logos are not the preferred profile picture, mainly because some clubs forget to change them each year when the theme changes.

Acceptable profile pictures (bottom row):

· Sample 5 is Rotary International’s Mark Excellence and is approved for use as a profile picture.

· Sample 6 is this year’s Rotary theme: use it if you think you will remember to change it each year; a disadvantage is the whole theme logo does not display correctly in the space available for a profile picture.

· Numbers 7 & 8 are samples of profile pictures that have been created by a couple of clubs, that incorporate photos of their area and their club logo (created with the template available in the Brand Center in My Rotary).

Your public facing Facebook pages help to create the image that you would like your community to have of your club and Rotary in general. A profile picture that meets Rotary’s branding guidelines and is up-to-date is a good place to start.
