Yesterday the ECC Interact Club held it’s very first fundraiser after forming the club at the start of the school year.

Daniel Roussounis —

It was a challenging start for the club who were planning events including a Talent Quest & High Tea which had to be put on hold due to COVID-19.

Meetings were suspended in Term 2 as the students were studying from home and when meetings resumed in term 3, some of the students said, “is Interact still a thing?”.

We brainstormed activities that the club could do in this COVID environment and came up with a Car Wash. Supplies were kindly donated by Supercheap Auto & Woolworths with club Secretary Piper Miller approaching many local businesses for support.

The Emerald Rotary Club supported the event sending their “Mother Ship” catering trailer loaded with everything required to sell drinks and sausage sizzle.

The kids washed 39 vehicles including a Fire Truck!!! Most of them washed more vehicles in one day than they’ve washed in their entire lives.

The club raised nearly $800 in just 4 hours!!!
