Foundation Director, Larry Slattery from Mackay, interviews Peace Scholar Rebecca Dawson
Rotary Peace Centres offer a master's degree in fields related to peace and conflict prevention and resolution. Our Rotary sponsored scholarship students graduate with the knowledge and practical skills they need to understand and engage in conflict analysis and resolution, peacekeeping and peacebuilding in the contemporary global context.
. Rebecca Dawson is a young lady who attended the local Glenmore State High School, before heading off to France on a 12 month Rotary Youth Exchange. Rebecca has travelled extensively & made the most of any opportunity that opens up to her.
Rebecca was a Rotary Peace Fellow of Class XVII (2018-2020), recently graduating from Uppsala University in Sweden with an Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Research.
Before moving to Uppsala, Rebecca was a Youth and Gender Mainstreaming Officer with the United Nations in Maseru, Lesotho, and prior to that spent two years working at the Asian University for Women in Chittagong, Bangladesh. She has also worked with non-governmental organisations in India, Nepal and Cambodia.
Rebecca has a BA in Political Science and English from the Australian National University in Canberra and is currently teaching in the Bachelor of Security Studies program at Leiden University in The Netherlands, where she moved in August 2020.
