Congratulations to RYDA for winning the Australia Day Award for the “Community Project or Event of the Year” in the Fraser Coast Region and of course, congratulations to Lloyd Maddern, the Chairman and leader of the RYDA team, our Club for leading the event with the support of the other Rotary Clubs, Sponsors, Facilitators, Volunteers, Community, Local and State Governments and everyone else who is involved.

Without the above support we would not be able to run this fantastic event.

We all know the success of RYDA and the number of young lives that have been saved on the roads because of this project.

This is an event that will continue to help young drivers and the community for a long time in the future.

Good morning good people,

Yesterday I felt deeply honored and privileged to accept the Australia Day Award for the 2021 "Community Project or Event of the Year" award on your behalf.

There is absolutely no doubt that RYDA is a great program but it is only through your efforts that we were able to deliver the program to 1772 students in our region in 2021.

So a special thanks to everyone who was involved including:-

* All our sponsors particularly the Dept of Transport and Main Roads and the Fraser Coast Regional Council;

* Road Safety Education (RSE) for providing the program;

* the facilitators especially the Police Officers who took part at very short notice;

* the RYDA Committee members:

* All our volunteers from the Rotary Clubs, the 2 Probus clubs and elsewhere;

* the teachers, support staff and students from all except one school in our region;
