Club public image - preparing for the 2023-2024 Rotary year

PDG Merewyn Wright, District Public Image Chair - June 22, 2023

As we come to the end of our Rotary year, it is time to ensure our social media, websites, and newsletter headers are ready for the new Rotary year.

Being consistent in our communications — through public relations, events, advertising, social media, and more — strengthens Rotary’s brand and builds awareness and understanding of how our members take action to create positive change in communities around the world. To this end, the start of a new Rotary year is a good time to review, check and update our club's branding to ensure this consistency.

Some reminders of what you may need to check/change:

1. Facebook pages

  • Check your page’s profile picture: Note below: Rotary’s old logo (replaced by Rotary International 10 years ago), club logos created using the old logo, and annual theme logos should not be used at all on your public facing pages (top row of graphic). As the graphic below shows, the Mark of Excellence (wheel - download it here) is allowed for use in club and district profile pictures, as are club created profiles incorporating your club logo (as long as they meet branding guidelines).

  • Check your club’s cover photo: Again, ensure the “old” wheel or the theme logo are not used. It is acceptable to use your club logo (the Masterbrand signature with your club name). Create your club logo in the Brand Centre using the RotaryRotaract or Interact templates. (See some examples of correct club logos below).

2. Club Website – Check as above for correct logo usage, and ensure other information such as club contacts, meeting details, office-bearers etc. are updated.

3. Club Newsletter / Bulletin Headers – As your bulletins are largely for internal communication, use of the Theme logo is acceptable. Check for use of (and remove if necessary) “old” logos and theme logos, replace with current club and theme logos, and update any club or club officer information as necessary. Note the guidelines for use of the theme logo: most importantly, that the lockup (with your club name) is the preferred use (see examples below). You will need to create the lockup version in the Brand Center (see the 2023-24 Theme Guidelines for instructions). Once you have created your club logo and the theme lockup logo, keep them on hand to use for any promotional flyers etc. you need to create during the year.
