Have your say on Rotary Regionalisation Pilot this month
Anne Matthews - August 3, 2022
Each club has one vote and voting will occur online between 15 - 29 September 2022. Club presidents are required to consult with all members before voting, and adopting the pilot will require the support of two-thirds of clubs in each district.
Any abstaining clubs will count as a 'no' vote.
The ballot, which will be administered by Rotary International's Sydney office, is confidential and District Governors and project coordinators will only be told the percentage of clubs who voted yes and no.
The regionalisation project has been underway since 2019 and has been looking at a new governance model to ensure the best support possible for Rotary and Rotaract Clubs. Governance is the system by which an organisation is controlled and operates, and the mechanisms by which it, and its people, are held to account. Ethics, risk management, compliance and administration are all elements of governance.
A ‘yes’ vote will see the formation of an Interim Regional Council with limited roles. It’s expected this council will start on 1 July 2023 with a final model in place by July 2026. Monitoring and evaluating how the changes are delivering benefits are an important part of the project.
Every Rotarian is being given the opportunity to evaluate and comment on the model.
