ZONE 8 ROTARY REGIONALISATION PILOT PROJECT

PDG Merewyn Wright —

Rotary International is considering establishing a regional governance pilot to address membership, public image, communication, and fundraising challenges to ensure our organisation thrives long into the future.

Should this proceed, in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands we have an opportunity to be one of a small number of regions across the globe to pilot this new governance structure, created by RI’s Shaping Rotary’s Future Committee (SRF).

As the District’s Regionalisation Representative, my role is to liaise between leaders and clubs in our district, and the Core Team that is planning the pilot, to communicate information as it comes to hand, and lead the process of consultation with our clubs.

This consultation and information-providing process will culminate with a vote by each club on whether I not they feel the Zone should pilot this regional governance model. It is likely this vote will occur about May 2022.

In order for clubs to be able make an informed decision when it comes time to vote, the Regionalisation Core Team is in the process of preparing two presentations for sharing –

Ø One aimed at District Leaders

Ø One aimed at Clubs

I will share these once they are available.

In the meantime, I refer anyone who wants further information (District and Club Leaders and indeed any Rotarian) to:

Ø The article “An Opportunity to Lead Positive Change” in the October issue of Rotary Down Under – pages 52-55.
