Changeover Champion

Anne Mathews —

Allow Anne Matthews Public Image Director Rotary d9560 Passport Club to tell you a little about this new style of club.

To Rotarians, late June and early July means Changeover and many attend functions not only for their own Club but for neighbouring Clubs. It is a busy time, as all 36,782 Rotary Clubs hold a Changeover ceremony, which brings new leadership, new ideas, a new theme and renewed energy to each Club. The changeover of leadership occurs throughout Rotary at Club, District and International level.

In a Passport Club our President remains in office for two years, so Daniel Roussounis from Emerald, commenced his second year on 1 July 2021; however, our Club still celebrates this special occasion in the Rotary Calendar, because we come under the leadership of a new Rotary International President and new District Governor.

Our Passport Club has members throughout Queensland with clusters on Bribie Island, in Emerald and Gladstone. President Daniel set some sort of Rotary world record, by holding three Changeover functions so that most members could celebrate this special occasion. The first dinner was held in Emerald on 2 June, the second in Gladstone on 26 June and the third on Bribie Island on 27 June.

All three functions were relaxed and great fun. It was very special for members in Gladstone and Bribie to meet Melissa Roussounis as well as the three beautiful and well behaved Roussounis daughters – Georgia (who is President of the InterAct Club at Emerald), Sophie and Emma.

Well done Mr President and best wishes for a successful Rotary year.
