"I am very pleased to announce that Andrew Gillespie (RC of Hervey Bay City) has been selected to be the District Governor 2024-25 for D9560.", says District Governor Martti Kankkunen.

In 2016 and 2017 Andrew was Assistant Governor for the Townsville area for PDGs Ida Portella and Robert Tardiani, in then District 9550, and he has since resettled in Hervey Bay. Thank you Hervey Bay City Rotary for supporting Andrew's nomination.

Our District has shown great diversity of gender, ethnicity, working backgrounds and geographical location in our District Governors,  and this can only make us stronger as One Team, One Goal.

2020-2021: 

IPDG Adele Hughes Discovery Coast Rotary and Managing Director Gladstone Valley Funerals

2021-2022:

DG Martti Kankkunen (Finnish ethnicity) Discovery Coast Rotary. Past Managing Director of Thiess Mine Planning International.

2022-2023:

DGE John Hall Rotary Club of Mundingburra. John grew up in Cloncurry, and has a strong link to the pastoral industry. More recently he has been involved in policy development and service delivery, and was Regional Director of Training, Queensland Education and Training.

2023-2024

DGEN Sabaratnam Prathapan Rotary Club of Darwin. He has been keen on promoting initiatives that focus on equality and inclusivity in the greater Darwin community, including the development of the Hindu society and its temple. Civil Engineer and Associate Professor of Engineering at CDU.

Andrew has performed in senior management roles across the Utility sectors in government and commercial entities, both nationally and internationally over the past 30 years. His career experience encompasses Leadership, Strategy Development, Program & Project Management, Asset Management, Regulatory Compliance, ISO Management Systems & Audit, Continuous Improvement and Change Management. Andrew has been awarded for his approach to innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. Andrew has worked with a range of companies including Energy Queensland Ltd, Ergon Energy Corporation Ltd, Power Water Corporation NT, and multi-nationals including Landis & Gyr and Enermet Oy. His cultural work experience spans Oceania, Europe, China, India and North America.
